COMMANDMENTS
When I think of the commandments I think how they strengthen and bless my life. They are part of my baptismal covenant that I have made with God. As I promise to keep them God promises to pour out His spirit upon me. That it may be my constant companion. God has given me commandments because He loves me. He wants the best for all of us both now and in eternity. He knows what I need spiritually and physically. He also knows what will bring me the greatest happiness. He knows what I will need to help me through my earthly journey and promises this: “And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.” Mosiah 2:41. And this: “But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come.” Doctrine & Covenants 59:23. Choosing to obey God’s commandments-and repenting when we fall short-helps us navigate this often challenging life. Now how am I going to tie this into yoga? In yoga we follow careful, well thought out and safe cueing. That we may not have any injuries. Yoga instructors learn in depth of anatomy of the human body and how to abstain from hurt in any practice. They follow guidelines of safety as those participants in their class are trusting them to move safely on their mat. I want to move safely on my mat by following safe guidelines and through life by keeping the commandments.
