STILLNESS
I saw God in my day when the power went out unexpectedly for 4 hours. I feel as though I am more aware of mindfulness and intentional in how I spend my time and day. But this gentle reminder came today from God. To slow down even more. To move with mindfulness and be still. With the power out there is no laundry to wash and dry. No vacuuming, no cooking. So I played with my children. We went for a walk outside with our dog. Felt the warm sun on our cheeks despite the cold. Viewed the beauty of Gods creations around us, the still waters of the river to the south, the hawk on the telephone pole and watched as it spread its wings and flew away. I sat down to my spinning wheel as matched my breathing to the rhythm of my hands drafting and feet treadling. I found my breath as I meditated. A Lovingkindness meditation that reminds me to be gentle and kind to all, especially myself. I studied my scriptures, sung hymns and worshiped. I read a book for the pure joy of it. My heart is so grateful to God for the kind reminder today to cultivate more stillness. Namaste.
