OUTLOOK

There is a beautiful quote that has helped me gain perspective on my life that I would like to share with you. “Come what may, and love it.” Joseph B. Wirthlin said this and his mother said it to him. His spin on this wise counsel was this: every life has joys and sorrows, peaks and valleys and times when the sun doesn’t shine and it seems we won’t ever be joyful again. Yet there are those happiest of people who seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming wiser, stronger and happier as a result. It is how we react to adversity that is a major factor of our happiness and success in life. If adversity is approached wisely our hardest times can be our greatest growth periods which can lead to our greatest happiness.

I know days that are dark and even though I KNOW the sun will shine again I am still stuck in the darkness. These are the days I slow down. Spend more time carefully practicing self-care. More time in quiet meditation. More stillness and pondering. More time focusing on the best things. Yoga has helped me to know that I can slow down, that come what may, and love it. Each yoga practice is unique. I may be more open than yesterday. I may have less energy. But I can show up on my mat and come what may, and love it. This is how I saw God today in my yoga practice.
