SPIRITUALITY
Not everyone believes that yoga is a spiritual practice and that’s how the cookie crumbles. But I believe it is. Ancient yoga texts speak much of spirituality and of God. I’ve spoken previously about stories and our egos. I also believe our stories come from our perspectives. Each of us has a personal lens with a tint through which we view the world. Some features can be suppressed while others emphasized. Things can also be revealed through the lens of spirituality which are otherwise invisible. I can know the things of God by the spirit of God speaking to my spirit. My spirituality is determined by my personal outlook and priorities. It is evident in my words and actions. What I see around me depends on what I seek in life. I know that it can be the same for you. Below are some beautiful scripture passages which speak of spirituality. I particularly resonate with 2 Corinthians 4:18 that things which are seen are temporal and things which are not seen (spiritual) are eternal. This is how I saw God in my yoga practice today.
2 Corinthians 4:18
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Romans 8:5-6
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
1 Corinthians 2:11 & 14
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
